Peavine Falls

This July 4th will begin bright and early as I embark on my first trail race since...well, probably 02'. .and admittedly I was in much better shape! The Peavine Falls race starts at 7am, 3.2 miles of uphill gravel, a climb of 900', and back down onto a single mountain bike trail for the last 1.2 miles. Why? you ask, would I do this to myself, when I could sleep in..it's a holiday! Well, it's the cheapest race in history(don't quote me), a $5 entry, with a t-shirt. It's running that makes me feel "free" from the city, the world, media, fast food, and just about anything, except myself. I feel most free in God's presence..His Spirit, then I'm free from ugly sin rearing it's head at me, my sinful heart, and the fear of the treacherous world around me. Years ago I vowed to never idolize running again, and I believe God's honored my hope to keep Him at the center of my life. Now I run with such joy, and not particularly concerned about my 'time'. I'm thankful this 4th of July for the freedom to worship, surrender to Christ, and live in the presence of God's own Spirit. "Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom" 2 Corinthians 3:17
