DIY Vows

We wrote our vows..something I never thought I was capable of doing. Vows are the life long words that sear your lips at the alter just before the long awaited kiss. My husband (first time to write it) was excited about the idea soon after our engagement. It was a daunting thought to say the least, but it did feel adventurous. After a meeting with our pastor, suggesting we write our own vows, it was inevitable, and became real,we were writing our vows. So, what to say, how long, and where did we make them different and the same? Thankfully we were able to take a sneak peek at those who had gone before us and got a good idea of the direction we were going with the vows. Borrowing from scripture, reflecting on our engagement, and seeking words we wanted sealed to our hearts, our vows came to life. The feeling of completing them, being "approved" by our pastor, and then meditating on each part the week before the wedding, made the experience such a cherished one. We also printed a bookmark for our wedding party with our vows. Our hope is to have their prayers (and everyone else) over us.
