Looking Forward

Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, and Lent are approaching and it's refreshing. While I finished my senior year of college I worked at a coffee shop. It was the first time I saw adults on their lunch hour passing through with 'ash' marked on their forehead. It took me back because it was such a public testament to Christ's resurrection, and most Christians I knew didn't even talk about Ash Wednesday. I read more recently about the days leading up to Lent and the call to remember Christ's death and resurrection. Preparing my heart for this occassion will be challenging, but days such as Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday help to mark preparation of the 40 days until Easter.
This is my favorite memory of Easter, as a child, it brought to life many pages of the Bible: "...each Easter we would wake up at sunrise to go watch the re-enactment outside the church...mom put blankets on the hood of the car and we listened intently to life-like portrayal of Easter ..."
another would be all the homemade candy Grandmother Maxwell gave us ....even as adults.
